Toprol XL (Metoprolol)

Toprol XL (Metoprolol) is a beta-blocker used to
treat chest pain (angina), heart failure, and high blood pressure. It lowers high blood pressure  preventing strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Toprol XL (Metoprolol) works by blocking the action of certain natural chemicals in body
(such as epinephrine) that affect the heart and blood vessels. This lowers heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart. Toprol-XL is also used to lower your risk of death
or needing to be hospitalized for heart failure.

Indication for use

Toprol XL (Metoprolol) can be taken by
almost all adults who have:

chronic heart
failure;

·       
hyperthyroidism;

·       
with hyperkinetic
cardiac syndrome;

·       
hypertension;

·       
migraine attacks;

·       
to prevent myocardial
infarction;

·       
 to prevent angina attacks, heart rhythm
disturbances.

Precautions

Toprol XL (Metoprolol) is not recommended to use if you have: allergies
to the components of this medication; low pressure;  severe bronchial asthma; bradycardia;
pheochromocytoma; severe abnormalities of arterial blood flow; Prinzmetal
angina; acute heart failure; while taking some antidepressants, verapamil; pregnancy;
period of lactation,

Dose and usage

Dose of Toprol XL (Metoprolol): 25 mg – white, elongated,
small, flat tablets with line in the middle, 
50mg – white, round, small, flat tablets with the line in the middle,
100 mg – white, round, flat tablets with the line in the middle, 200 mg – white,
elongated, flat tablets with line in the middle.

Before taking this
medication consult with your attending physician.

Toprol XL (Metoprolol) is
taken orally in the morning, taken down with water. The standard initial dose
is 25-50 mg / day. Over time, the dose can be increased to 100-200 mg / day.

Side
effects

Almost always taking of Toprol
XL (Metoprolol) goes without any side effects but at least there can
be some cases: very
slow heartbeat; shortness of breath; dizziness; tiredness; confusion; memory
problems; nightmares, trouble sleeping; diarrhea; mild itching or rash.

Postponing the visit to doctor in case of bad feeling
is a risk for your life.
