Tenormin (Atenolol)

Tenormin
looks like tablets and may have a different dosage of the active component of
atenolol: 25, 50 and 100 mg. There is also a liquid form for injection – 5 mg
of atenolol. The preparation contains inactive components, such as povidone,
magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate, and microcrystalline cellulose.

Tenormin
can be used as an independent medicine or used with other medicaments. Your
doctor may prescribe these pills for hypertension to treat high blood pressure.
Reducing hypertension helps to prevent the risk of stroke, kidney problems, and
even heart attacks. Tenormin is also used to treat angina (chest pain), for the
complex treatment of cardiovascular diseases (in combination with other
medicines). This pill belongs to the class of beta-blockers to block certain
chemical components inside your body. This effect causes a decrease in blood
pressure and a decrease in the load on the heart. Also, Tenormin could be taken
to remove alcohol withdrawal syndrome, for patients with heart failure, treat
an unstable heartbeat, and to prevent migraines.

This
medicine can have many side effects, so the patient needs to tell his doctor if

• Diarrhea.

• Nausea.

• Depression.

• Drowsiness.

• Respiratory failure.

• Cold limbs.

• Increased fatigue.

• Slow heart rate.

• Dizziness while standing.

taking this drug:

• Rash.

• Psychosis.

• Impotence.

• Dry eyes.

• Disorientation.

• Headache.

• Hallucinations.

• Violet spots on the body.

• Short-term memory impairment
  and concentration.

The dosage
and use of this pill depend on the disease and the course of treatment. Some
patients take 5 mg injections for 5-10 minutes. Others may need large dosages –
from 100 to 200 mg per day. Also, the dosage may be 50 mg per day. You should

Tenormin. You do not need to do your dosage because the drug has many side
effects.
