Inderal (Propranolol)

Inderal (Propranolol) is a medicine rated to beta blocker group. It copes with high blood
pressure, irregular heartbeats and shaking
(tremors). Under the influence of this medicine such diseases and
disorders  as a migraine, headaches, chest pain (angina), strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems can be prevented. It is also used after a heart
attack to improve the chance of
survival. The main goal of Inderal (Propranolol) is to
lower high blood pressure. Due to that the cardiac output and  sympathetic stimulation of peripheral blood
vessels are considerably reduced. The effect from treatment becomes noticeable
after 14 days of regular therapy.

Indication for use

Inderal (Propranolol)   can be taken by almost all adults and children who
have :

·       
Essential and renal
hypertension,

·       
angina pectoris,

·       
arrhythmias,

·       
migraines,

·       
anxiety,

·       
essential tremors,

·       
thyrotoxicosis,

·       
hypertrophic
obstructive cardiomyopathy,

·       
pheochromocytoma
(with alpha-blockers).

Precautions

Inderal (Propranolol) is not
recommended to use if you have: hypersensitivity, cardiogenic shock, history of
is a bronchospasm and bronchial asthma, metabolic acidosis, peripheral
circulatory arterial disorders, bradycardia, sinus node weakness syndrome,
decompensated heart failure, angina, pregnancy, 
period of lactation.

Dose and usage

Dose of Inderal (Propranolol): 10 mg – pink, round, flat tablets,  40mg – pink, round, flat tablets; Inderal La:
80 mg – blue or white-blue capsules, 160 mg – blue or white-blue capsules.

Before taking this
medication consult with your attending physician.

Hypertension: the
initial dose is 80 mg 2 times a day, the average dose is 160-320 mg / day (not
more than 640 mg / day); angina pectoris, anxiety, migraine, tremor: initial
dose – 40 mg 2-3 times a day, average dose 80–240 mg / day; arrhythmias,
obstructive cardiomyopathy, thyrotoxicosis: 10–40 mg 3-4 times a day (up to 240
mg / day); pheochromocytoma – 30 mg / day.

Children under 12
years: with arrhythmia, pheochromocytoma, thyrotoxicosis – 0.25–0.5 mg / kg 3-4
times a day, with migraine – 20 mg 2-3 times a day.

Side
effects

Once in a while some side effects can be developed: hallucinations,
psychoses, bradycardia, thrombocytopenia, visual disturbances, heart failure,
orthostatic hypotension, cold extremities, Raynaud’s syndrome, dizziness, sleep
disturbance, hypoglycemia, dyspeptic disorders, psoriasis, bronchitis.
