Anaridex (Anastrozole)

Anaridex (Anastrozole) is an aromatase hormone antagonist. It reats the problem of women’s Health. During the postmenopausal period, estradiol is produced by converting androstenedione to estrone in peripheral tissues under the action of the aromatase enzyme. Then estrone is converted to estradiol. The active substance of the drug blocks this process. This reduces the level of estradiol, which is necessary in the treatment of breast cancer. Does not have progestogenic and androgenic activity.

Indication for use

Anaridex (Anastrozole) can be taken by almost all women who have to treat common breast cancer in postmenopausal women (with positive hormone receptors).

Precautions

Anaridex (Anastrozole) is not recommended to use if you have:

• severe renal insufficiency;

• medium and severe hepatic insufficiency (safety and efficacy not established);

• concomitant tamoxifen therapy;

• childhood (safety and efficacy not established);

• pregnancy;

• lactation;

• hypersensitivity to anastrozole and other components of the drug.

The drug is not prescribed to premenopausal women.

Dose and usage

Anaridex (Anastrozole) is available in the form of 1mg white, round, flat tablet.

Anaridex (Anastrozole) is taken orally. The recommended dose for adults, including older women, is 1 tablet (1 mg) once a day.

For invasive breast cancers with positive hormone receptors at early stages in postmenopausal women, the recommended duration of adjuvant endocrine treatment is 5 years.

Side effects

Anorexia, hypercholesterolemia, hypercalcemia, nausea, diarrhea, hepatitis, elevation of thyroid levels,  headache, wrist tunnel syndrome, drowsiness, sensitivity disorders, hot flashes, anaphylaxis (manifested by shortness of breath, hypotension, cardiac arrest), dermatitis, exanthema, hair thinning, alopecia, polymorphic erythema, arthralgia, arthritis, joint impairment, osteoporosis, bone pain, myalgia, vaginal bleeding, vaginal dryness.
