Aciphex (Rabeprazole)

Aciphex (Rabeprazole) refers to proton pump
inhibitors. It reduces amount of
acid in the stomach and relieves symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Besides that Aciphex (Rabeprazole) assists  symptoms such
as difficulty swallowing, persistent cough and heartburn.

Indication for use

Aciphex
(Rabeprazole) is prescribed for
adults and children who have:

·       Active peptic ulcer of the duodenum;

·      
active benign gastric ulcer;

·      
erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD);

·      
long-term treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD maintenance
therapy);

·      
symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease from moderate to
very severe (symptomatic treatment of GERD);

·       Zollinger-Ellison syndrome;

Precautions

Aciphex (Rabeprazole) is not recommended to
use if you have: malignant process in the stomach and duodenum, pregnancy,
breastfeeding period, individual hypersensitivity to rabeprazole, other
components of the drug, substituted benzimidazoles.

Dose and usage

Dose of Aciphex (Rabeprazole):  20mg  – pale yellow, round  tablets.

In case of Duodenal
Ulcer or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease – 20 mg orally / day
within  4
weeks.

In case of Erosive Esophagitis or Gastric Ulcer – 20 mg orally / day within 4-8
weeks
In case of Duodenal Ulcer Prophylaxis –
 20 mg orally /day within 1 year
In case of Helicobacter pylori
Infection – 20 mg orally 2 times a day within7 days
In case of Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome:60
mg orally /day within 1 year.

Dose for
children 1 to 11 years: less than 15 kg – 5 mg orally / day, more 15 kg – 10 mg
orally / day within 12 weeks.
Dose for children 12 years or older: 20 mg orally / day within 8 weeks.

Side effects

Treatment
by this drug can trigger some side effects: abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea,
dry mouth, constipation, kidney failure, flatulence, convulsions, rhinitis,
cough, sinusitis, fever back pain and allergic reactions.
